THROWBALL

Throwball is a popular team sport that is widely played in India and several Asian countries. It is a fast-paced game that requires teamwork, coordination, agility, and quick reflexes. The game is similar to volleyball, but instead of hitting the ball, players catch the ball and throw it over the net to the opponent's side.

Throwball was developed as a recreational sport and later became a competitive game played in schools, colleges, and sports tournaments. The sport in India is governed by the Throwball Federation of India (TFI), which organizes various competitions at district, state, national, and international levels.

In Throwball, two teams compete against each other on a rectangular court divided by a net. Each team has seven players on the court, and the objective is to throw the ball over the net so that the opponent team fails to catch it successfully. The game begins with a service, and players must catch and throw the ball quickly to continue the rally.

The standard Throwball court measures about 18.30 meters in length and 12.20 meters in width for senior categories. The net height varies depending on the age group of the players. The game requires players to have good physical fitness, quick decision-making ability, and strong team coordination.

Throwball is beneficial for improving strength, endurance, flexibility, and concentration. It also helps develop team spirit, discipline, and sportsmanship among players. Because of its simple rules and exciting gameplay, Throwball has become increasingly popular among students and athletes.

Today, Throwball is played in many educational institutions as part of physical education programs and sports competitions. It is an easy game to learn but requires practice and teamwork to master. Due to these qualities, Throwball continues to grow as an important sport in many parts of the world.
